But it was in Melbourne, Australia where the boy, now a man, found his true calling - Italian food. After years of honing his skills and opening successful restaurants, he decided it was time to bring his dream back home to Lebanon.
Nestled on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, Punto Alto was born in a small town on the outskirts of Tripoli. The views were breathtaking, and the space was vast - over 1200 square meters with 400 seats. When the doors opened in 1997, it was one of the first Italian restaurants in Lebanon, and it quickly gained a reputation for its classy atmosphere and hearty portions.
